A Facelift

This has been a busy spring for the camp and due to the hard work of so many we are glad to be able to say that Nakijin has had an awesome facelift!!  One new item this month is a new roof for the BBQ area.  Thanks to the generous donation from a young marine, we were able to buy the wood and the fittings to build it. We would love for your and your group to experience the Glory of God at Nakijin.  Just call the OBC office and make your reservation.

Work Day 4/28

Work Day on 4/28 went great...the weather held and the 50 or so folks who volunteered their time at the camp were able to get a lot accomplished.  Cabins were painted, sand was carted to various areas and raked, the basketball court and goals were painted, the volleyball posts and all the play equipment for children were also painted.  Five more picnic tables were built and work began on the BBQ roof.  We were also able to celebrate the work of Bernie and Chiyo Wrye and heard a bit about God's call to them for work on Okinawa.  Thank you to all who took part:  Koza Baptist Church, Camp Hansen crew, Impact from Kadena and Noah Community Church.  Your work will have a lasting impact on many!!

Workday 4/21/12

Workday #1 went very well today!! We were blessed with many folks...some from Central Baptist, some from Camp Hansen and some (the Wry family) all the way from the US.  We were able to get a lot accomplished...and it was awesome that God kept the weather nice and dry until we were done today in spite of 90% predicted thundershowers.  We are thankful for the new picnic tables, the trees taken down, the windows and curtains washed, the sand that was shoveled over exposed pipes, the raking, the cleaning...the list could go on and on.

Thank you to all who helped!!  Workday #2 will take place next Saturday (28th) and we are hoping to build a new barbeque area as well as paint all the buildings!!

Okinawa Baptist Staff

The OBC is blessed to have two very committed women working in the office.  They have many responsibilities, but a special one to them is helping with camp and some of the administrative duties.  They are the ones you speak to when you call the office to make a reservation or ask questions in English or Japanese.  Meiko Kamiya and Kazue Kinjo are ready to answer your questions and help in anyway they can!

Camping

A newer area of the camp property is a wonderful site for camping.   You can bring your own tents and gear and camp on a beautiful ground right above the beach. Everything you need, including an outside BBQ area, showers and toilets are readily available.

From this small peninsula surrounded by the beautiful ocean and beach, you can see Iejima (Ie Island) as well as Izena and Iheya Islands.
What a wonderful setting for time with family and friends and for quiet time with God.

Workcamp 3/19

On Monday, March 19, Central Baptist Church women worked to beautify the Hokuzanso Camp entrance. Wielding flowers, dirt, shovels, clippers, rakes and a huge amount of energy, the ladies helped to make the entrance even more beautiful and prepare it for the upcoming camping season.  It was a wonderful time of fellowship and fun!! A big thank you to all who helped.
